З 15 червня по 13 липня в США відбудеться Клубний чемпіонат світу, участь в якому візьмуть 32 клуби з шести континентальних конфедерацій. Призовий фонд становитиме понад 1 млрд доларів.
За підсумками групового етапу в раунд плей-офф пройдуть дві з чотирьох команд у кожному квартеті, а далі глядачі побачать класичну боротьбу на виліт.
За інформацією британського видання The Guardian, президент ФІФА Джанні Інфантіно має намір розширити турнір до 48 учасників наступного року. Остаточного рішення поки що не ухвалено, тривають консультації між зацікавленими сторонами.
Формат майбутнього Клубного чемпіонату світу залежатиме від того, як пройде турнір в США. Повідомляється, що з проханням збільшити кількість учасників звернулися команди, які не потрапили на КЧС-2025.
Крім того, ФІФА може збільшити квоту для команд із однієї національної асоціації. На даний момент одну країну можуть представляти більше двох клубів тільки в тому випадку, якщо як мінімум три команди цієї країни виграли континентальні турніри протягом чотирирічного циклу.
